Description

How much do you pay for your peanut butter? When we weighed up the time to make our own against the price to buy a jar, we converted instantly.

The price of raw peanuts? Last we checked 400gm of raw peanuts were around $3 … that’s pretty good considering a jar of peanut butter can easily come in at $5-$6+ – particularly when you’re buying a family size jar for a peanut butter loving family!

No sugar. No additives. No gluten. No dairy. All you need is 3 large jars and a clan of peanut lovers!

Crunchy or smooth? This recipe makes so much you can have both!

Ingredients

1 tsp. salt
400gm raw peanuts
3/4 c. vegetable oil/extra virgin olive oil (whichever is on hand) + extra if you like your peanut butter extra smooth!

Directions

1
Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius, fan forced.
2
Line a baking tray with grease proof paper and spread the raw peanuts on the tray ensuring there is no overlap of peanuts.
3
Roast for 25 minutes or until peanuts are golden.
4
Allow to cool on the tray.
5
Once cool, pour peanuts, salt & oil into the jug of a blender/food processor.
6
Pulse until the mixture reaches your desired consistency, for smoother peanut butter continue pulsing - for crunchy, pulse until the oil has crushed most peanuts and there are still plenty of visible chunks of peanut butter.
7
Store in airtight jars - process the jars in hot water bath for extended shelf life.
